Creative Approach

We utilize various art forms engaging the participants in unique approaches to HIV and AIDS education.

  • create a quilt to show compassion
  • design a dance to teach transmission
  • perform a drama to identify symptoms
  • play a game to learn vocabulary
  • share a story to highlight treatment
  • sing a song to promote prevention

 

Creative activities are also utilized to aid in the learning process, such as:

Creative Methods of HIV & AIDS Education Course

Creative Methods is a 5-day, 20-class course for 12 leaders of a congregation who learn information about all aspects of the infection, HIV, and the disease, AIDS, plus more than a dozen teaching techniques for sharing the message of prevention with their families, churches, schools, and villages.

 

 

Culture & HIV - AIDS

Presented in schools, congregations, and villages in cooperation with the Museums of Malawi, "Culture & HIV-AIDS" is an inclusive, interactive educational program using dynamic culturally appropriate indigenous methods to address dangerous cultural beliefs and practices that promote the spread of HIV. On-the-spot VCT is offered at each site. The program uses the Museum's cultural approach, Malawi Matters' creative methods and networking skills, and the Church's spiritual teachings to address issues of HIV & AIDS.

 

 

Empowering Girls By Educating Girls' Leaders

"Empowering Girls" is a course designed to provide leaders of girls' groups in congregations, schools, and villages, skills to help female children and youth become empowered, responsible, and productive young women. It is offered in cooperation with the Girls' Empowerment Network of Malawi.
